Gerald R. Ford, 1974-1977, 38th president, and wife,
Betty. Gerald assumed the presidency after the
resignation of Richard Nixon. His Administration
saw the end of The Vietnam War and was the
1st president of a recession that lasted
through four presidents: Ford, Carter, Reagan
and Bush. Mr. Ford survived two assassination
attempts, both by women, both in 1975. They
served 32-34 years each, in Federal Prison.
Both he and Betty passed in California, but
are interred in Michigan. He died of heart
disease in 2006 , at the age of 93. Betty died
of natural causes in 2011, at the age of 93.
President Ford's real name was Leslie Lynch
King Jr. Lyndon B. Johnson once said of Mr. Ford,
"He's a nice fellow, but he spent too much time
playing football...without a helmet."
